St. Augustine Seminary & Grotto
The Brothers of the Divine Word Missionaries established St Augustine Seminary & Grotto in 1922! St. Augustine Seminary was the first Roman Catholic Seminary, in the entire United States, to train and ordain African-American men to be priests and brothers. The on site Lourdes Grotto was built in 1938, depicting the child Bernadette and her vision of the Blessed Mother Mary. Open daily 9am to 5pm, by appointment, donations accepted.
