April 12 – June 9, 2018
Laurent Smith lived in Bay St. Louis from the 1960s until his death in 2003. A self taught artist who began painting in the 1940s and began painting consistently during the 60s while living in New Orleans. He was very shy and reclusive and had a hearing loss, so didn’t exhibit his work or enter them into shows, so his work is little known. His subject matter includes rural scenes from southern Louisiana and historic buildings in coastal Mississippi and New Orleans. All his work is in oil.
Tuesday-Friday 10am-6pm, Saturday 12pm-4pm.
