Overview

The Pascagoula River Audubon Center serves as a gateway to the largest free-flowing river in the lower 48 states where visitors can experience and learn about birds and wildlife throughout the year. The center also serves as a demonstration site for environmentally friendly concepts and a portal to conservation programs applicable to all visitors, local residents and tourists alike. A two-hour interpretive boat tour is also available from the center. Call for directions and hours.

The new center features a 5,000 sq ft center with an interpretive area. This area includes seven aquaria highlighting the river's aquatic elements ranging from fresh to brackish. There is also a nature-based fine art gallery highlighting the work of local, regional, and national nature artists through shows.

The grounds of the new facility hosts a native plant botanical garden showcasing native plants and their uses in bird and wildlife-friend landscaping. Historic elements include a restored 80+ year old "Scout Hut" serving as an outdoor pavilion and meeting room as well as a remnant portion of the historic Pascagoula Street Railway & Power Company trolley line that once connected Moss Point and Pascagoula.

The center is open Tuesday-Friday 9am to 3pm and one Saturday a month depending on venue rental. Please follow on Facebook for date and schedule of events for that day.
