Institute for Disability Studies Gulf Park

The Technology Learning Center (TLC) specializes in improving learning and living for children and adults with disabilities of all ages utilizing assistive technology tools, which include adapted recreation equipment! TLC offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy leisure time in the same way as people without disabilities while on the MS Gulf Coast.  Due to our year round temperate climate our adapted fishing rods, hand cycles, beach wheelchairs and adapted golf carts are in great demand and available for use by reserving the needed equipment!

TLC also collaborates with local agencies for special events to ensure that people with disabilities are able to participate. This collaboration makes it possible for all people to be included and enjoy traditions and celebrations all along the MS Gulf Coast. Sports, recreation, and the arts are a way of life here on the Gulf Coast, and TLC strives to ensure that people with disabilities have the same opportunity as others to participate and enjoy these activities! In addition, TLC offers augmentative communication devices that actually “talk” for a person who cannot speak and alternate computer access and software that circumvent a person’s disability. 

Weekend pickups available, but reservations required for use of any equipment as the devices are done on a first come first serve basis.  All equipment is free of charge.
