January 25-February 25, 2017
Currents, an exhibit featuring the work of Clay Hardwick. Hardwick is a native of Jackson Mississippi who recently made the transition to the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Hardwick speaks about his transition to the Gulf Coast and being immediately transfixed by the complex beauty of the water; waves catching sunlight and creating seemingly chaotic displays of color and pattern. Hardwick’s instinctive paintings explore the water cycles of sea, to rain, to streams that have scored the earth and carved fantastic shapes into rocks. Hardwick likes to explore the interactions of flow and the patterns revealed when elements settle. In this body of work, he has connected the natural processes to his own path of self-understanding. While having an awareness of the earth’s time, the artist explores how time has visually affected our landscape. Open Tuesday-Friday 10am to 5pm, Saturday 11am to 3pm.
