Nelson is an American musician, singer, songwriter, author, poet, actor and activist. Some of his best-known work includes “Red Headed Stranger,” “Stardust,” and “Crazy.” As one of the most recognizable artists in country music, he is known for helping create the “outlaw” genre of country music.
Nelson has recorded more than 60 studio albums, as well as appearing on TV and in film multiple times. Additionally, he has written several books and memoirs. Nelson has won many awards over his six-decade career, including Gershwin Pirze for Popular Song by the Library of Congress in 2015 for his contributions to popular music. He is the first country artist to receive the distinguished award.
