Summer Camp Week: Camp Haiku: Creative Writing for Teens

Haiku is a traditional form of Japanese poetry. It consists of three lines. The first & last lines have 5 syllables, and the middle line has 7 syllables. It rarely rhymes.

Camp Haiku is a fun-filled week that will introduce children to creative writing styles such as personal narrative, imaginative writing, poetry, and haiku. Students will create and design their own writing journal on the first day, and simple art activities may be included with writing activities throughout the week(illustrating student poetry). Students will also learn about Mississippi writers.
