RATED: R - Mr. Marmalade is directed by Cliff Thompson and stars local talent turned nationally lauded comic actress Jesse Meriwether, known everywhere as the ‘cootie queen’ from the Orbit Gum “Lint Licker” commercial. Supported by an ensemble cast starring Sean Maurer as Mr. Marmalade with Ryan Reinike as Larry- Lucy’s only real friend and the youngest ever known suicide attempt and James Taylor as Bradley, Mr. Marmalade’s personal assistant.

Featuring Kim Nord, Morgan Taylor, Taylor Switzer, Melissa Hall-Reinike, and Jonathan Bell.

It’s a very grown-up play about playing grown-up. Lucy is a precocious and imaginative 4 year old who is left to navigate a confusing world with little guidance, except that which comes from her imaginary friend who has no time for her, Mr. Marmalade. Never mind that Mr. Marmalade’s idea of toys include unmentionable objects, or that he has a cocaine addiction along with his penchant for battering his personal assistant. MR. MARMALADE is a savage black comedy about what it takes to grow up in these difficult times. The New York Times calls it, “…a toxic combination of neglect and exposure to the noisy dysfunction in the cultural ether…In a world permeated with chatter about sex and commitment and issues of self-esteem, the play argues, no child is left behind for long.”
