Juneteenth (Monday, June 19) is a time of reflection, education, and jubilation as we gather to pay homage to the struggles and triumphs of the African-American community.
On June 19, 1865, federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, where U.S. General Gordon Granger read General Orders No. 3, informing the citizens of Texas that all enslaved people were free. The "Freedom Day" celebrations that followed that announcement became known as Juneteenth, and more than 150 years later, Juneteenth remains the longest-running African-American holiday in America.

The 100 Men Hall will conclude its year-long Centennial Year celebration with a three-day event this Juneteenth weekend! The disco-themed festivities start on Friday, June 16, with A Tribute to Donna Summer featuring Anais St. John. Purchase your tickets in advance. On Saturday, June 17, the 100 Men Hall will host a 10-hour dance marathon with prizes, followed by a free outdoor concert by Tomar & the FCs on Sunday, June 18.

Gulfport’s annual Juneteenth gala rolls out the red carpet for African-American leaders and advocates at the Isaiah Fredericks Community Center. Doors open at 6 p.m. Purchase tickets in advance. The gala honors the African-American community with an awards ceremony and a scholarship contest.

Pass Christian will kick off its Juneteenth celebration with its ”If Not You, Then Who” brunch at 10 a.m. at the J.W. Randolph Center. Purchase tickets in advance. The event will honor five community members who give their time and talents to the city.
Following brunch, a free community celebration will kick off at Noon with live DJ entertainment, food, and craft vendors on site until 5 p.m.
