About

Mr. Jimmy “Duck” Holmes is a Mississippi recording artist and proprietor of the oldest operational juke joint in America – the Blue Front Café, founded in 1948. Known around the world as the Last of the Bentonia Bluesmen, Holmes was fortunate to learn the Bentonia style of blues from Jack Owens. “Duck” has a body of solo albums, the latest – Cypress Grove, recorded with the Black Keys, earned him a Grammy nomination in 2021. Holmes has twice earned the distinction as a Mississippi Arts Commission Fellow. He runs one of the longest running festivals in Mississippi – the Bentonia Blues Festival, celebrating its 50th anniversary this June. When he is not performing, he can be found at the Blue Front Café in Bentonia, MS, a blues trail site.

Anyone 18 and under can attend the show accompanied by an adult (must purchase ticket).
