The Pass Christian Historical Society is in its 39th year of welcoming visitors to elegant home tours in this historic seaside community. This year's Home Tour and Garden Party will be held at 910 West Beach, Pass Christian. The weekend home of New Orleaneans Danny and Mary Clare Conwill sits next to the home of parents Dr. D.O. and Adrienne Conwill and is actually the larger of the two homes. Both were designed in the Greek Revival style by noted architect Barry Fox.
The elegant property holds a number of old live oak trees within the 13 acres overlooking the Gulf. The grounds and tiered formal gardens are the work of landscape architect Rene’ J.L. Fransen, also of New Orleans. During the afternoon, a croquet match played by Historical Society members will add to the ambiance. Light refreshments including canapes, wine and tea will be offered.
Tickets will be available on-line and in select locations in March. Visitors will also be able to buy tickets the day of the event at the Pass Christian Yacht Club where they can also enjoy an excellent Sunday brunch before attending the tour. (The club is normally private but is open to visitors that day only.)
Advance tickets are $30 and are available:
- online at passhistory.org through midnight April 30;
- at the Cat Island Coffee House/Pass Christian Books (300 East Scenic); and
- at the Pass Christian Yacht Club on the day of the tour from 11 am. To 2 p.m. (cash or check only).
Beginning at 2 p.m. that Sunday, tickets may only be purchased at one of the homes on tour for $35.
