Sharpen your gumbo skills, from roux to holy trinity, and learn the finer points of buying and cooking fresh seafood. Arrive early if you want to experience a from scratch gumbo, or if you are more interested in sharing a bowl with friends, come later. We use only local seafood, and Mississippi grown rice. The Maritime and Seafood Museum will be partnering with local food writer Julian Brunt for a monthly lunch and learn class featuring everyone’s favorite Cajun comfort food.
The full class the cooking class and lunch which features a bowl of gumbo and rice, drink and a copy of Julian’s gumbo cookbook. Do not have time to attend the entire class? Lunch will be available at 11am for only $20. Lunch will include highlights from the class, the gumbo book and of course, a bowl of gumbo. Seats are limited and will be filled on a first come first serve basis.
