About

Mississippi Aquarium welcomes homeschool families and groups to visit, explore, and participate in hands-on educational activities. Our themed programs are designed for students of all ages and are the perfect complement to any science curriculum.

After check-in, students will meet with one of the Aquarium's educators who will introduce the week's topic. Students will then partake in hands-on, educational activity stations, supervised by an educator. Supplemental materials will be available to guide learning during the activity. There will be an opportunity to meet one of our animal ambassadors and tour the Aquarium at your leisure.

Our Fall Homeschool Days topics include:

From Tides to Trenches | September 13 & 15

Take a deep dive with us and explore the layers of the ocean! Students will use hands-on activities to learn about the diversity of life in each ocean zone, their adaptations for each layer, and how researchers study the depths.

Inside Out | October 25-27

Have you ever wondered what makes an animal tick? Students will immerse themselves in activities to learn how major organ systems function, like the circulatory, respiratory, muscular systems and more!

Biodiversity: Life's Riches | November 15 & 17

From fishes to frogs, to birds and mammals; Earth is covered with a broad diversity of life to be explored! Students will survey the biodiversity of different ecosystems, model population growth, and learn about the threats to biodiversity on Earth.

Taking Flight | December 6 & 8

Soar into this Homeschool Day to explore birds! Investigate the mechanics of lift that allow them to fly, how their beaks and feet are adapted to every habitat on Earth and build your own nest!
