This free event brings the community together to support children with disabilities and their families. Attendees will enjoy family activities, live entertainment and light refreshments, all provided by support from local businesses.
The Wheel Way, a wheelchair ramp leading directly onto the beach on the west side of the Long Beach Harbor, is the first of its kind in Mississippi. Built in 2018 and funded by the Junior Auxiliary of Gulfport, the Wheel Way provides individuals with disabilities direct access to the beach in a safe and comfortable way.
In celebration of National Disabilities Awareness Month, in partnership with USM Gulf Park’s Institute for Disability Studies and the City of Long Beach, individuals with special needs and their families are invited to participate in the free event. The event is located between Steve’s Marina and Simpson Pier on the west side of the Long Beach Harbor. Nearby parking is available.
