Visit each of our branch libraries at the HOLIDAY CELEBRATION to view our community-decorated holiday trees:

  • Bay St. Louis Library - Sunday, December 3, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM
  • Waveland Library - Thursday, December 7, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM

  • East Hancock Library, Diamondhead - Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM

This event is sure to get you and your family into the Holiday Spirit! Help select the winning "People's Choice" award. In 2023, more than 12,000 people attended the Holiday Tree Gala event, and viewed more than 140 decorated trees. This is the longest running event of its kind in the State of Mississippi. 2023 will be the 29th consecutive year for the Holiday Tree Gala, which was established by The Library Foundation of Hancock County as a way of giving back to the community during the holidays.

Businesses, non-profit organizations, and civic groups may reserve a spot to participate by decorating a tree. This year’s theme is “Candy Canes on Library Lane.” You must provide your own tree and decorations. Tree decorating runs from November 17 through November 30 at all five branches. Holiday tree winners will be determined by a team of selected judges. Contact your local branch library if you have questions about participating in the holiday tree decorating event.
