Art, nature and family fun

A journey deep into the mind and musings of Walter Inglis Anderson provides an unforgettable outing for the entire family! The Walter Anderson Museum of Art in Ocean Springs is dedicated to celebrating the works of Walter Inglis Anderson, whose depictions of the plants, animals and people of Coastal Mississippi have placed him among the forefront of American painters of the Twentieth Century; Walter’s brothers, Peter Anderson and James McConnell Anderson, are also celebrated for their respective artistry.

From Anderson’s most public project (the 3,000 square-foot Ocean Springs Community Center murals) to his most private work (the Little Room murals, an immersive space discovered soon after his death in 1965 and installed at the museum), WAMA is a must-see during your Secret Coast stay. The museum is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A doggone great time at the beach

Our furry, four-legged friends enjoy the surf and sand of Coastal Mississippi beaches as much as anyone! The beaches in both Jackson and Hancock counties are pet-friendly, making either a perfect getaway for you and your canine companion – as long as your pup is on a leash!

After a fun day of fetch, it’s time for some coastal cuisine for you and your partner in crime. Both Jackson and Hancock counties offer several pet-friendly restaurants, such as The Blind Tiger in Bay St. Louis and Government Street Grocery in Ocean Springs. You can find a full list of places to eat, stay and play with your pup at our Pet Friendly Getaway to Coastal Mississippi Guide.
