Spring has officially sprung on the Mississippi Gulf Coast! That means it’s time to ditch those winter coats, dig up the bathing suits from your winter storage and get outside for some fun coastal activities. For those of you that aren’t within driving distance of the Mississippi Gulf Coast and are currently between nor’easters and blizzards, we have one piece of advice: take a vacation to somewhere warm. You won’t regret it!
People often choose to visit the Coast because they love our casino resorts, and we can’t blame them, but there’s also so much more to do outdoors when it’s warm that you will love.
For the aquatic adventurers, we recommend getting right out onto the water for some fun in the sun. Whether you want to rent a jet-ski and go fast or paddle around on leisurely water bike ride, you can always find rental companies on the beach of Highway 90 in Biloxi. Don’t forget about paddle boarding, though. It’s both fun and a great way to exercise, and Wut Sup Paddleboards will let you rent their boards, kayaks and even pontoon boats to take out on Gulfport Lake!
If you ask the locals, many of them will tell you that the guided boat tours and outings are among the coolest ways to spend your time on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and there are several different ones to choose from, each as fun as the last. The Biloxi Shrimping Trip is a 70-minute excursion that takes place in the Mississippi Sound and provides hands-on demonstrations and lessons about the wide world of the shrimping and seafood industry, and the guides (Mike and David) could not be more fun! McCoy’s River & Marsh Tours leave from the Pascagoula River Audubon Center and take passengers into the largest free-flowing river in the contiguous United States. Some of the species you’ll see can’t be found anywhere else on the planet! Last, but not least: Gulf Coast Gator Ranch & Airboat Swamp Tours. The name speaks for itself, and it’s well-worth your time!
We don’t like to brag too often, but if you’re going to be playing golf in the state of Mississippi, you should start and end on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. After all, Golf Digest did say that five of the top 10 (including no. 1) courses in the state are right here on the Coast. So if you’re a golf fan, get on down here! We even offer a great golf package for patrons who want to stay the night and play at the Jack Nicklaus-designed Grand Bear Golf Course!
These suggestions merely scratch the surface when it comes to outdoor activities to do on the Coast, and to see more click here, but we can assure you that you won’t be bored when you come down to see us!
