2 full marathons, 12 half marathons

What has been your favorite marathon so far?

Marine Corps Marathon. I had never been to the District, so it was fun running by many iconic locations.

What makes a destination fitting for a marathon?

The climate and timing, the scene and community support. It’s great to have locals that get behind the event and fully support it.

What about the Mississippi Gulf Coast will make it a good spot for a marathon?

The flat terrain and the scene with unobstructed views of the coastline.

How do you get amped for a marathon?

Proper training and preparation. It builds confidence to make the experience enjoyable.

What do you do to celebrate completing a marathon?

It’s funny, but you are bound to struggle at some point in a marathon. You’ll even question why you signed up in the first place.  After the first cold beer goes down and you laugh about the race, it’s not long after that you start talking about the next one.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever seen a spectator do?

We’ve had Elvis costumes, DJ’s hired by spectators, shots, beer and donuts passed out by homeowners on the route.

What is your favorite thing about the Mississippi Gulf Coast? What makes it different?

It’s a perfect location for a marathon and running festival that I believe is a hidden gem in the running community.  The relaxed atmosphere, southern hospitality and scenic views for 26 miles will attract runners and keep them coming back.
