If you're looking for the perfect getaway for your family this year, Coastal Mississippi has everything you need. From family-friendly museums, to delectable restaurants, to luxurious accommodations - Coastal Mississippi is the perfect getaway for anyone and promises travelers (and their families), a really great time!
You may know of Biloxi and Gulfport, Mississippi for their beaches, but they have so much more to offer. Directly across from the beach, nestles the Lynn Meadows Discovery Center. Their mission is dedicated to inspiring children, families and communities through the arts, interactive educational experiences and exploration - and is proud to have been the first children's museum in Mississippi.
Lynn Meadows Discovery Center has everything a child can imagine and more! Their interactive play stations include a grocery store, a veterinarian office, a make-believe ice cream shop and even a space station! It's a great place for kids and parents alike. Parents get to interact with their kids as their customer, their coworker, or even use the center as a safe place for kids to burn their energy, while parents sit back and watch it all happen.
You can even purchase a membership if you plan on visiting frequently (great for locals). Lynn Meadows offers weekly classes and story time. Classes include:
- Cooking classes for kids - where a variety of cooking and snacking experiences take place,
- Engineering is Elementary - a unit that presents fun, engaging challenges that allow students to apply science knowledge in meaningful ways.
- Homeschool classes - held on the third Wednesday of each month, the center offers a hands-on, minds-on, STEAM based learning experience specialized for homeschool students. These classes are perfect for ages 7-10.
- Girl Scouts workshop - where scouts can participate in fun-filled workshops and earn a Brownie Badge.
The center also hosts a variety of events each month, celebrating national and local holidays. Families can enjoy special activities in the Science Room, the Artist Studio, or enjoy a show in the Puppets Art Theatre.
Any place that can keep the kids entertained and also feed their brains with knowledge - is definitely a place I would want to be! Lynn Meadows is perfect for locals and vacationers. If it's too hot, too cold, too rainy, or if you're little ones are looking for more variety - Lynn Meadows Discovery Center is the perfect place to spend an afternoon.
