What comes to mind when you think of Mississippi? Is it beautiful beaches? Eclectic coffee shops? Delicious eateries? Luxurious accommodations? Family-friendly activities?
Well, if it isn't, these next few minutes will change your mind and hopefully, give you some in-depth insight as to why Coastal Mississippi deserves a spot on your bucket list this upcoming Spring and Summer!
Whether you're traveling with kids, your spouse, or having a girl's trip - The Roost in Ocean Springs, Mississippi is a beautifully restored boutique hotel, which serves as a significant historic landmark in the heart of Ocean Springs.
Rest assured that you'll be well taken care of and surrounded by lots of things to do - including The Walter Anderson Museum, local beaches within a mile radius and walking distance to local artisans and cuisine!
We had the pleasure of enjoying the executive Shearwater Suite during our first night's stay. The Shearwater Suite features a spacious living area overlooking beautiful oak trees, which also includes a sleeper-sofa (perfect for kids, or extra guests), a master bedroom with a private bathroom and is also the only suite with a fully-equipped kitchen and has direct access to an adjacent patio.
The Living Room:
This area allowed us ample space, especially since we're traveling with kids. The gorgeous atmosphere made it really relaxing for us all!
The Kitchen:
We all know a fully-equipped kitchen always comes in handy. The Roost also has a casual restaurant on the ground level, Eat Drink Love, which offers tasty, farm to table, menu items that you can enjoy!
The Master Suite:
It's always nice to have ample amount of room for yourself and everyone traveling with you! This master suite screams luxury and comfort.
The Master Bath:
Everything you could expect in a dreamy bathroom, is here. Marble counter tops with a rustic finish, double shower heads and original wooden flooring, is all here, in this gorgeous master bathroom.
The Balcony:
The suite features plenty of windows, which gives you numerous views and opportunities to take in all of The Roost's historic charm and Ocean Springs surroundings. Right outside the suite's door is an adjacent balcony with rocking chairs, perfect for relaxing. Right up the stairs, are multiple seating areas where you can also hang out, eat, sip your coffee or wine - and simply relax.
As mentioned above, there's a farm to table restaurant on the ground level, offering more patio and outdoor space for guests to enjoy. Be sure to speak to the hotel cat, Porter, who is super chill and friendly! Not to mention, Eat.Drink.Love catering's offers so many delicious options, including take and bake, to enjoy in your private suite as an option. The food was so good, we didn't have a chance to capture it, but you can view more of the food on their website - here.
The following night, we switched to the Pelican Suite which also features a king sized bed, beautiful views of the surrounding area, a small living space, a kitchenette and luxurious bathroom. Earlier, during the day and before transitioning, we had the pleasure of tasting some homemade, savory biscuits and locally roasted coffee at The Greenhouse On Porter, less than a mile away! You can also check out our experience at the eclectic coffee shop, here.
It also helps that the staff is super friendly and always available, right when you need them! We all felt at home the entire time. With farm to table food at our doorstep, a super relaxing ambiance and luxurious suites, I'd have to say The Roost Boutique Hotel was phenomenal!
Coastal Mississippi is super family-oriented and offers various activities the entire family will enjoy. This place is seriously worth a road trip and every little town has it's own uniqueness. Safe travels this Spring and Summer!
