Coastal Mississippi announces Erin Rosetti as Director of Communications and Engagement

COASTAL MISSISSIPPI (April 29, 2019) – Coastal Mississippi is doing things differently. After introducing a new brand and campaign, Coastal Mississippi: The Secret Coast, as well as a new business model, the destination marketing organization today announced an update to its structure.

The Coastal Mississippi Communications and Engagement Department is charged with the following: showcasing the vivid, varied character of coastal life through the development of unique and compelling content that inspires action; effectively communicating the incredible economic impact of the region’s tourism industry; and engaging with community partners, media members and industry stakeholders to foster stronger relationships. The organization also announced today that Erin Rosetti will lead the newly established department.

“Rosetti is committed to the community and has a vision to change the way we communicate who we are with our stakeholders, providing a foundation to continue growing our industry. She is a true professional, and with her expertise and in conjunction with our existing team, we will transcend from a simple communications mode to truly engaging with our publics. The ultimate goal for this organization is that our communications efforts have a meaningful impact on our community and clients,” said Coastal Mississippi CEO Milton Segarra.

Rosetti joins the team with years of experience in strategic communication and public relations in both private and public sectors. She received her B.A. in Mass Communication from Louisiana State University and began her career at Edelman Public Relations in Chicago. She previously worked for Visit Mississippi Gulf Coast as the Public Relations and Media Manager.

“This is the region I am most passionate about, and representing the people and distinct cultural attributes of Coastal Mississippi sparks great personal pride and enthusiasm. Now is a pivotal time for our region, with an increased amount of investments and job creation directly related to the hospitality industry. With our talented team, I will work to ensure Coastal Mississippi no longer remains the best-kept secret in travel,” said Rosetti.

Segarra announced that in 2017 a record 13.5 million people visited the destination. During that year, the market saw an 11 percent increase in enplanements and deplanements at its Gulfport airport, as well as increases across the board in rooms sold, occupancy and occupancy tax receipts, average daily rate and casino revenue. The region is also experiencing a building boom for hotels and attractions. More than 500 new hotel beds will come online in 2019, which can accommodate new visitors to the region as well as repeat visitors who are finding reasons to extend their stay. The Mississippi Aquarium will also open in Gulfport in late 2019, adding a world‐class aquatic tourism attraction to the destination. In addition, Margaritaville Resort & Family Entertainment Center in Biloxi will undergo a $200 million expansion this year adding more hotel rooms, restaurants, meeting space and family attractions. Within the next five years, Coastal Mississippi will see at least 30 new projects developed, amounting to an investment of over $669 million.
