Gulf Coast Birding

The birding enthusiast will find many feathered reasons for visiting the Mississippi Gulf Coast. A wide variety of bird species stop along the coast during their annual migrations between North and South America, thereby creating the opportunity for an exquisite birding experience. Birds you might see while on the Coast include the Bald Eagle, Prothonotary Warbler, Osprey, Blue Heron, Egrets, the Red Winged Black Bird and the Mississippi Sandhill Crane. Due to the vast number of birds living on and passing through the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Birding Trails have been established by the Mississippi Gulf Coast National Heritage Area. Need help identifying some of the birds you see, click here.
