GAUTIER - The City of Gautier has been chosen as a filming site for a spin off production of the History Channel's "American Pickers." The new show, "Picked Off" is the synthesis of "American Pickers" and "The Amazing Race." Four teams of six people (two pickers, camera person, audio person, producer, and assistant) will literally be racing through the Gautier Antique Fair in order to hunt "finds."

In light of the recent oil spill, the Mississippi Gulf Coast Convention and Visitors Bureau (MGCCVB) announces, "The Mississippi Gulf Coast remains open for business."

Richard Forester, executive director of the MGCCVB, says, "Although we are most concerned about the impact this accident will have on our one of a kind ecological system and the economic ramifications of that, we want to stress that we are still a viable destination of choice today and for the future. The Mississippi Gulf Coast has a lot to offer including golf, shopping, attractions, and of course, our casinos. We will continue to do our job to promote our destination."

MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST - January 15, 2010- The American Bus Association (ABA) listed the Biloxi Seafood Festival among its Top 100 Events of 2010 in North America, while the Southeast Tourism Society (STS) chose the Mississippi Gulf Coast Mardi Gras, Gulf Coast Winter Classic and St. Patrick's Day celebrations as Top 20 event for January, February, and March, 2010.

GULFPORT MS - October 23, 2009 - The Mississippi Gulf Coast will get a boost in tourism spending when the OCEANS 2009 attendees arrive October 26-29. The meeting will take place at the newly expanded Mississippi Coast Coliseum & Convention Center with 1,200 people registered to participate. The conference is sponsored by the Marine Technology Society (MTS) and the Institute for Electronics and Electrical Engineering (IEEE) and was invited to the Mississippi Gulf Coast by the Gulf Coast Section of MTS.

Harrison County Tourism Commission Announces Jon Lucas as Tourism Commissioner

Mr. Jon Lucas, president & general manager of the IP Casino Resort & Spa, has been selected to replace Mr. G. N. "Nicky" Creel of Biloxi, as a Harrison County Tourism Commissioner. The IP Casino Resort & Spa was the first casino to reopen in less than four months after Hurricane Katrina. It is one of the premiere casinos on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and was a AAA Four Diamond Award winner in 2008 and 2009.

GULFPORT, MS – The Harrison County Tourism Commissioners voted to form an Advisory Committee to the HCTC Advertising Committee during the monthly meeting on Tuesday, July 21, 2009. The commissioners are inviting the Mississippi Hotel & Lodging Association, Mississippi Hospitality & Restaurant Association (Gulf Coast Chapter) and Mississippi Casino Operators Association to recommend representatives to work with the HCTC Advertising Committee to assist the commission in maximizing the advertising dollars of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB).

The CVB was the major sponsor for the Mississippi State Conference NAACP’s annual Catfish & Blues Reception, Wednesday, June 15, 2009 at the Hilton New York. The entertainment for the evening was Mississippi blues legend Bobby Rush.
