Shallow Draft Charters

Owned and operated by Capt. John Swartz, Shallow Draft Charters specializes in light tackle inshore fishing on the MS Gulf Coast. Capt John holds a US Coast Guard Masters License and is a member of the MS Charter Boat Association, and the National Association of Charter Boat Captains!  We offer ½ day and full day trips for 1 – 4 persons. Sunset Bayou Cruises are also available!  Bring the family or come by yourself...check out the Bayou and beyond!  Get up close & personal with nature!

Shallow Draft uses nothing but the best equipment aboard a 24' TritonLTS.! This starts with the extremely quit and clean running 225 HP Honda outboard. For electronics, the boat is equipped with a Garmin 2006 GPS – Plotter – Sounder with back up Lowrance GPS and Sounder, and a Standard Horizon VHF radio. We use all shimano reels mounted on Falcon, St. Croix, or Gloomis rods depending on our targeted species and methods! Terminal tackle, plastic and hard baits are also among the best available.  Shallow Draft Charters target all local inshore species including trout, redfish, flounder, black drum, and shark and enjoy focusing on quality fish. In 2003, we led one angler to and IGFA (International Game Fish Association) world record! This record, a 32 lb black drum on 8 lb test, held for one year before being broken in 2004!

Your charter price includes all bait, tackle, ice, and licenses. Arrangements for food & drink by captain available for an extra charge – ask with reservation! You can bring your own ice chest, but it is preferred you use the ones on board!  In addition, ask us about cooking YOUR CATCH!
