"CRITTERS"

May 27 - September 26

WAMA's latest "from the vault" exhibit celebrates Walter Anderson's love of the fauna found along the gulf coast and beyond. Celebrating animals that many consider mundane, such as the cow and the ordinary housecat, as well as more exotic animals, such as zebras and giraffes, "Critters" draws from many of the media that Walter used -- pen and ink, pencil, watercolor, ceramic, blockprints, wood carvings, and even crayon. This exhibit features Alexander, a wooden giraffe, who now reunites with other woodcarvings, another giraffe, a duck whirligig, and a spotted cow, along with a lion that Walter probably carved in the 20's. With more than sixty other works of art on display, Critters is of interest to everyone, especially young children with activities and art suggestions!
