Introduction to DLSR

Have you got a DSLR camera and want to take your photography to the next level, but can't seem to get out of "automatic" mode? Then join Elizabeth Gray as she explores the features of your camera and learn the basics of ISO, aperture and shutter speed. In this hands on four-week course you will learn about: lens choice, camera modes, workflow - what to do after you take all those photos, aperture and how to control depth of field, shutter speed and when to freeze action and how to imply motion, ISO and how it relates to exposure, aperture and shutter speed, white balance and colour temperature, exposure compensation and bracketing, and when to use them, focus settings and how to control what your camera is focusing on, composition and how to make artistic images.

Gulf Coast Symphony Concerts

The Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra 2014-2015 season "Building Bridges" includes several concerts at the Saenger Theatre. How to Use Lightroom 5

In this three-week hands-on course, Elizabeth will show you how to use Lightroom 5 to import, catalogue and develop your photos. In this course you will: learn to import photos from your computer, memory cards and phone; add copyright information to all your photos; add keywords to your photos; use collections and smart collections to organize your photos; use the develop module to adjust exposure, crop, remove dust spots, correct slanting horizons and convert images to black and white; learn how to export your photos for e-mails, web, and printing; explore the slideshow, book and print modules.

2nd Annual Que at the View BBQ Fest

April 3-4

The outdoor event will feature a festival of food, drinks, live entertainment. Forty-five teams compete for the state KCBS title and more than $15,000 in cash and prizes. Enjoy a food festival and an after party and concert on Saturday. Guests are invited to tour the competition and observe the teams in action. The second day, beginning at noon, the event will offer an abundance of tasting opportunities for guests with a food festival, featuring barbecue-style selections, sides, boiled crawfish and a beer garden with a variety of craft beers. As well, the competition's teams will present what they consider to be their best smoked pork dish. Guests can sample all the entries and cast a vote for the 'Que at the View People's Choice Award. The winner of the award will receive $1,000, with second place taking home $500.

Entertainment will include free, live musical entertainment on the Foley RV Music Stage by The Lisa Lee Albritton from noon to 2:30 p.m. and STARZ from 2:30 to 5 p.m. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS.

D.L. Hughley

"D. L." Hughley is an American actor and stand-up comedian. He is perhaps best known as the star of the ABC/UPN sitcom The Hughleys, and as one of the four comedians featured in the Spike Lee film The Original Kings of Comedy. Additionally, he has been the host of CNN's D. L. Hughley Breaks the News, a correspondent for The Jay Leno Show on NBC, and a local radio personality in New York City. Hughley was the original host of ComicView, the stand-up comedy program on BET. He is a member of The Original Kings of Comedy, and has also had roles on Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, and on NBC's Scrubs as Turk's brother.

Lil Wayne & Friends LIVE

Young Money presents Lil Wayne & Friends LIVE, Sorry For The Wait 2 Release Party at Kress Live. Lil Wayne is rapper, songwriter, and entrepreneur from New Orleans, Louisiana. In 1991, at the age of nine, Lil Wayne joined Cash Money Records as the youngest member of the label, and half of the duo The B.G.'z, alongside fellow New Orleans-based rapper Lil' Doogie. In 1996, Lil Wayne formed the Southern hip hop group Hot Boys, with his Cash Money label-mates Juvenile, Young Turk and Lil' Doogie (who now goes by B.G.). Hot Boys debuted with Get It How U Live! that same year. Lil Wayne gained most of his success with the group's major selling album Guerrilla Warfare. Along with being the flagship artist of Cash Money Records, Lil Wayne is also the chief executive officer of his own imprint, Young Money Entertainment, which he founded in 2005.

On-Going Events

Art Exhibits @ Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport

Two new art exhibits are now on display at Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport. The art exhibits feature the work of Suzy Templin and Betty Magee.

Suzy was born and raised in Minnesota where she earned two bachelor degrees in Fine Art from the Minnesota State University graduating in 1996. She relocated to South Mississippi's Keesler Air Force Base in 1989 where she was hired as a Military Fine Artist. She has been doing coastal artwork for 25 years where her true love for the Gulf Coast is portrayed. She has won the Biloxi Seafood Festival Poster Contest five times. Suzy recently won Chefs to the Coast event's poster contest and the Blue Moon Art Project that was held during The Peter Anderson festival in downtown Ocean Springs.

Betty Magee began seriously painting over 40 years ago. Betty was born in McComb, MS where her father was a very prolific graphic artist, and her roots were really in New Orleans, LA where she began her art career. She won awards in her first four shows she entered which was an endorsement for her to go forward. Betty is accomplished in all mediums oils, pastels, ceramics, watercolor, acrylics and more. Art is her identity. Betty loves to paint nature. The native flora and fauna of the coast, especially the bogs with pitcher plants are represented in her exhibit in the airport. Betty also is one of the founders of the Mary C. O'Keefe Cultural Center of Arts & Education.

Both exhibits occupy the display cases located near the airline gates on the second floor of the terminal building.

Performing & Visual Arts Conservatory

The Salvation Army Kroc Center's Performing & Visual Arts Conservatory will allow students, ages 8-15, to gain an all-encompassing, one of a kind, music & art experience. Students will choose their elective from art/set design, brass, drama, drums, guitar, or keyboard. Each student will be placed in the appropriate level, as well as take part in Chorus and Music Theory Classes. Students do not have to own their own instrument to participate. Instructors will also give performances for students to top off this experience! At the end of the semester, students will have their chance to perform in a Recital on May 16th!

Alex North Photography Exhibit & Workshop

March 9 - May 1

Back by popular demand, a photography exhibit by Coast native Alex North, featuring new, never-seen-before works along with some of his iconic images. "Color Blind Eyes" Alex North Photography Exhibit. The public is invited to the "Meet-The-Artist Reception", March 15 from 2-4 p.m. 

Sign up for the Photography Workshop, "Get off Auto" with Alex North and Jason Taylor, Saturday, April 18. This class is designed to help budding photographers learn how to get the most from their camera and all those settings. Workshop fee $125. Space is limited.

Katrina + 10

This daily exhibition is an examination of the catastrophic destruction, immediate relief, sustained recovery, shared experience and progress on the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina striking South Mississippi. Moving multimedia exhibitions tell the story of the Katrina experience from those on the front lines: The Sun Herald, WLOX, and Mississippi Power Company. Two static environments, in the iconic pods will represent the inspirational volunteer effort from individuals and groups from around the world (coordinated by Hands on Mississippi), and the rebuilding of roads and bridges by the Mississippi Department of Transportation.

Katrina Cafe

Katrina +10 will host a weekly series of "Katrina Cafe" presentations where well-known community leaders will discuss the challenges of Katrina in their respective fields and how they have overcame those challenges.  Admissions to luncheons, which will be held a the Ohr-O-O'Keefe, is $10 per person which includes lunch.
