Gems, Minerals, Fossils, Rocks and Jewelry available to purchase. Vendors will have gems and minerals from natural state to finished gems ready to be placed in settings or to be incorporated into your own design. There will be rocks to display or collect Beautiful jewelry to purchase to compliment you or your special someone. Pearls, opals, Louisiana Opal, amethyst, aquamarine, emeralds, just to name a very few that are available. Rocks you have never heard about. Beautiful colors and combinations. 11th Annual Jazz in the Pass

May 23-24

Jazz in the Pass is moving to the streets of Downtown Pass Christian with free outdoor performances taking place at the town pavilion on the corner of Davis and Second Streets. The festival weekend kicks off on Friday night with a Jazz Party (tickets required.) Saturday activities start with the Blessing of the Fleet at the East Harbor, followed by a Street Fair and Gumbo Cook-off with Gumbo Tasting on Davis Avenue. Two full days of entertainment are scheduled, including local favorites Dr. Rock, Starz and the Coast Big Band. A special performance by the 41st Army Brass Quintet Band and jazz headliner Jose Francois are also scheduled.

FOURTH SUNDAY @ FOUR

Fr. Ron & Friends is an acoustic folk group led by Fr. Ron Clingenpeel, an Episcopal priest. Relying on the strong tradition of American folk music, this high energy group reaches back to play some of the most beloved songs of the 20th century: "This Land is Your Land" and "Little Boxes," to name a few. Fr. Ron gathered his "Friends" to offer a Pete Seeger Singalong as a tribute to the excellent life and career of one of America's true treasures. The response to that one concert encouraged them to continue to play this music in the singalong, hootenanny tradition of the 1960s

Pass Christian native John McDonald began his training as an artist in 1963 when he began working as an illustrator for the U.S. Air Force Air Ground Operations School in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida. A decade later he began to study watercolor painting with the renowned water coloristJohn Pike in Woodstock, N.Y. McDonald also studied with Edgar Whitney, a world-famous watercolor instructor whose book "The Complete Guide to Watercolor" has been a mainstay in many artists' reference libraries.

Wanda Sykes

Art Exhibits @ Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport

Two new art exhibits are now on display at Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport. The art exhibits feature the work of Suzy Templin and Betty Magee.

Suzy was born and raised in Minnesota where she earned two bachelor degrees in Fine Art from the Minnesota State University graduating in 1996. She relocated to South Mississippi's Keesler Air Force Base in 1989 where she was hired as a Military Fine Artist. She has been doing coastal artwork for 25 years where her true love for the Gulf Coast is portrayed. She has won the Biloxi Seafood Festival Poster Contest five times. Suzy recently won Chefs to the Coast event's poster contest and the Blue Moon Art Project that was held during The Peter Anderson festival in downtown Ocean Springs.

Betty Magee began seriously painting over 40 years ago. Betty was born in McComb, MS where her father was a very prolific graphic artist, and her roots were really in New Orleans, LA where she began her art career. She won awards in her first four shows she entered which was an endorsement for her to go forward. Betty is accomplished in all mediums oils, pastels, ceramics, watercolor, acrylics and more. Art is her identity. Betty loves to paint nature. The native flora and fauna of the coast, especially the bogs with pitcher plants are represented in her exhibit in the airport. Betty also is one of the founders of the Mary C. O'Keefe Cultural Center of Arts & Education.

Both exhibits occupy the display cases located near the airline gates on the second floor of the terminal building.

Katrina + 10

This daily exhibition is an examination of the catastrophic destruction, immediate relief, sustained recovery, shared experience and progress on the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina striking South Mississippi. Moving multimedia exhibitions tell the story of the Katrina experience from those on the front lines: The Sun Herald, WLOX, and Mississippi Power Company. Two static environments, in the iconic pods will represent the inspirational volunteer effort from individuals and groups from around the world (coordinated by Hands on Mississippi), and the rebuilding of roads and bridges by the Mississippi Department of Transportation.
