Friday, October 28 - Dan Longino Soil Conservation Technician for the Harrison County USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service. Dan will be presenting, “Trick or Treat: How invasive species creep us out”, a talk that will focus on agriculture and residential invasives such as Cogon, Chinese Tallow, Climbing fern, and Kudzu plants. He will also discuss various ants and termites and fungi.
Hopefully we will also discuss Torpedo grass as this is the invasive that is always a problem for GCCDS during shoreline and marsh restorations. Please join us this Friday for a great discussion on a very important topic.
Each Friday, Gulf Coast Community Design Studio hosts "Friday Morning Serial" a free, weekly public event which brings a different speaker and topic to the attendees through a 10-15 minute presentation. The majority of the morning is spent as group discussion. Community members, government officials, artists, scientists, professionals, students, and designers make up just some of the variety of attendees.
Friday Morning Serial provides a gathering and networking opportunity in which people, who may not otherwise meet can come together over cereal, coffee, and tea for informed discussion one hour each week. Topics and speakers are from diverse backgrounds and provide specialized insight. Topics vary from ecological restoration and urban planning and policy to Mississippi artisanal foods and the local film industry.
